Cyber Security Engineer (m/f) | Fucino, Italy

Spaceopal is the prime service operations contractor for the European Galileo Satellite Navigation System and manages all Galileo Service Operations. The awarded European Commission (EC) contract to Spaceopal is more than just its satellites in space. Galileo Service Operations will provide high-quality positioning, navigation and timing services to users across the whole world as a civil-controlled service with guaranteed continuity of coverage.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for the application of appropriate operational security measures to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Galileo operational data as handled by the Galileo Ground Segment at a given site (for the present position the site is GCC-I in Italy) according to the applicable security requirements and risk analysis.

This includes in particular:

  • Definition, maintenance and execution of Cyber Security processes and procedures (including audit procedures) in order to support the Vulnerability Management process
  • Contribution to the definition of the Security Monitoring procedures that will be executed by Operational and/or Security shifts
  • Provision of expert advice in the analysis of security events and incidents on request by the internal and customer entities in charge of Security Monitoring
  • Organisation and execution of internal Penetration test and Vulnerability Assessment activities, and support to Penetration test and Vulnerability Assessment activities performed by independent bodies
  • Operational interface to customer security bodies for vulnerability management activities
  • Coordination of all involved resources in the implementation of countermeasures to known and newly identified vulnerabilities, and in the required tuning of security monitoring
  • Contribution to ground segment evolution from a vulnerability management perspective
  • Support of security accreditation processes as a consequence of the above activities

The Cyber Security Engineer will work as part of an integrated team of security specialists.

Required Qualification and Experience:

The job requires in-depth knowledge of methodologies and supporting technologies involved in the cyber-protection of critical IT infrastructures, including for instance:

  • System and Network administration
  • Security hardening techniques (policies definition, policies implementation, assessment)
  • Security Monitoring Systems
  • Antivirus systems
  • Intrusion Detection Systems

The job requires also:

  • Fluent written and spoken English; knowledge of Italian would be a plus
  • Strong attitude to team work, also leveraging resources not directly dependent on him/her.

An experience in similar activities is required, better if acquired in Space or Defence programs, or in highly security-sensitive commercial sectors (e.g. finance).

Experience in the Galileo program will be a preferential factor.

Frequent travels to Spaceopal headquarters (Munich, Germany) as well as to the GCC-D (Oberpfaffenhofen, Munich, Germany) are expected. Also missions to other locations in Europe may be requested.

Product Assurance Engineer (m/f) | Munich, Germany

Spaceopal is the prime service operations contractor for the European Galileo Satellite Navigation System and manages all Galileo Service Operations. Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Product Assurance (PA) Engineer will be involved in the definition, design, engineering and execution of all Product Assurance activities.

  • Contribution to the planning, implementation and management of Product Assurance/Quality Assurance activities in all Galileo project FOC phases
  • Contribution to surveillance and management of subcontractors with respect to product assurance, quality and safety related matters
  • Contribution to define, develop and ensure delivery of quality and safety concepts and plans for the Galileo FOC phase
  • Involvement on the set-up and management of a non-conformance control program
  • Execution of RAMS tasks including performance review of system level RAMS analysis
  • Processing and contribution to the management of quality documentation (e.g. Non Conformance Reports) using ARTS and NCTS Systems
  • Surveillance and participation to operations preparation and validation activities
  • Supporting Project Management in the Risk Management process
  • Contribution to definition, control and monitoring of (safety) critical items
  • Participation in progress meetings and program reviews
  • Coordination, preparation and moderation of ARBs, CCBs and MRBs
  • Contribution to the coordination of internal and external project quality audits
  • Contribution to a Safety Management plan and manual for Galileo FOC phase
  • Contribution to planning, management and implementation of a software PA program and associated tasks
  • Provide – when requested – Customer interface in quality, product assurance and safety aspects of the project

Required Qualification and Experience:

University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Telecommunications or Electronics)

Experience in similar activities, better if acquired in Space or Defence programs, or related Industrial sectors. Experience in the Galileo program, and especially knowledge of the Galileo-specific accreditation processes and methodology, will be a preferential factor.

  • Proven and qualified experience in professional Product Assurance and Quality Assurance in the satellite operations business
  • Comprehensive and in-depth knowledge as well as experience of auditing and subcontractor auditing
  • Good knowledge of ESA-ECSS-Q-series standards and workmanship procedures
  • Good knowledge at system level of Galileo Program and current deployment status and criticalities
  • Experience in managing anomaly reports life cycle using ESA Standards Tools (ARTS, NCTS) and both in chairing and coordinating ARBs and CCBs for Space Programs
  • Experience of Quality Management Systems and Standards
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Fluency in Italian and/or German is appreciated even if not mandatory
  • Strong attitude to team work, also leveraging resources not directly dependent on him/her

Inventory Officer & Documentalist (m/f) | Munich, Germany

Spaceopal is the prime service operations contractor for the European Galileo Satellite Navigation System and manages all Galileo Service Operations. Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support the ILS and CADM Management in developing and maintaining operational procedures related to inventory management and documentation management
  • Receive, store, distribute and trace all documentation deliveries from / to external/internal parties including classified documents by facilitating defined tools
  • Maintain delivery records and support all kind of reporting needs related to documentation delivery and status of unclassified and classified documentation
  • Follow-up / sort-out problems related to documentation deliveries
  • Monitor the correct usage / status tracking of documentation/deliveries within centralized tools and trigger corrections/updates in case of issues
  • Perform quality checks and support updates/adjust documentation to meet PA and customer documentation management ruls/requirements
  • Preparing data packs to meet delivery milestones
  • Maintain all system level / Spaceopal level assets in the centralized tool

License Management Officer (m/f) | Munich, Germany

Spaceopal is the prime service operations contractor for the European Galileo Satellite Navigation System and manages all Galileo Service Operations. Galileo Service Operations will provide high-quality positioning, navigation and timing services to users across the whole world as a civil-controlled service with guaranteed continuity of coverage.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The License Management Officer has the operational responsibility for the availability and implementation of software licences at the operational platforms and reports both to the GSOp ILS/CADM Manager for aggregating the data as well as to the Maintenance Manager for what concerns the implementation monitoring on the operational assets.

This includes in particular:

  • Collecting licence information from Segment/Product manufacturer provided documentation
  • Translating the licence maintenance needs into a preventive maintenance plan based on the inventory/deployed assets
  • Coordinating with ILS Support Desk the in time upload/update into the Service Desk Tools/CMAT tool from which individual maintenance tickets are created
  • Maintaining the licence budget files at SPO Level (i.e. what licences, how many, where installed etc.) supported by centralised tools (CMAT)
  • Identifying potential risks and shortcomings related to the licence file deployments and needed follow-up tasks to avoid any problems due to unavailable licences
  • Acting as escalation instance for ILS Support Desk, who is escalating deviations from the preventive maintenance plan which require a follow-up by the Licence Management Officer
  • Managing escalations to SPO subcontractors related to overdue preventive maintenance tasks
  • Identifying and triggering necessary licence procurement needs via SPO procurement department and maintain status information in centralised tools
  • Supporting SPO procurement department in the procurement and negotiation process of related licences
  • Providing reporting to SPO and GSA management via centralised tools (i.e. monthly/ quarterly reporting inputs)
  • Participating to meetings related to licence management (GSOp internal and external with GSA/ESA/Segments)
  • Participating/follow-up potential anomaly reports related to licence issues
  • Ensuring correct recording and reporting of licence maintenance tasks and status via the centralised tools by means of regular follow-up and reviews

IT Coordinator (m/f) | Munich, Germany

Galileo Service Operations will provide high-quality positioning, navigation and timing services to users across the whole world as a civil-controlled service with guaranteed continuity of coverage.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

As IT Coordinator you will be responsible for the provision of office-IT services to internal and external users. Further you will be in charge for the management and coordination of external IT-providers and the evolution of Spaceopal’s IT-infrastructure.

This includes in particular:

  • Maintaining a key-position between our users and IT-providers
  • Responsibility for the evolution of Spaceopal’s IT-infrastructure
  • Planning, coordination and implementation of IT-changes
  • Controlling the IT-providers and infrastructure by implementing useful KPIs
  • Providing technical support and incident-management for our users together with our external L1-partner
  • Provision of L2 support for Spaceopal’s IT-services
  • Providing user level training on applications, including, but not limited to: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and other basic computer related skills
  • Maintaining the system documentation and configuration-management

Additional Duties:

  • Supporting the purchase manager for all IT related procurements (definition of requirements, evaluation of offers etc.)
  • Coordination and controlling of the implementation of new technology
  • Assistance in research of new technologies and software that might be beneficial to the company
  • Recommending information technology strategies, policies and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.

Required Qualification and Experience:

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Telecommunications or Electronics) or comparable education
  • Experience in IT Support and IT Infrastructure setups. Acquired in Space or Defence programs, or in highly security-sensitive commercial sectors (e.g. finance) would be a benefit.

CADM Engineer (m/f) | Fucino, Italy

Galileo Service Operations will provide high-quality positioning, navigation and timing services to users across the whole world as a civil-controlled service with guaranteed continuity of coverage.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support the ILS and CADM Management in developing and maintaining CADM related documentation, processes and procedures
  • Participate to Configuration Control Boards, document/trace status of Change Requests and Board decisions, partly chair CCBs and/or act as secretary to the CCB chair
  • Follow-up / sort-out problems related to the processing of CCRs (input/output)
  • Perform quality checks , monitor the correct usage / status tracking of CCRs in centralized tools and trigger corrections/updates in case of issues
  • Support the preparing and review of CADM related reports
  • Support the development and maintenance of the Product- and Configuration Item Tree and underlying configuration item attributes/data
  • Support the review and handover of configuration items/assets to the project from external parties
  • Support the execution of CADM audits
  • Ensure consistency of asset records and status within centralized tool/database
  • Liaise with relevant PoC at subcontractor level

Required Qualification and Experience:
