Spaceopal starts GSOp phase with new Managing Director

July 1, 2017 does not only mark a new era for Spaceopal with commencing the service provisioning phase in the new Galileo Service Operations (GSOp) contract, but it is also the day to welcome André Bauerhin in its new Managing Director role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

With the end of June 2017, former Chief Operating Officer Simon Plum has left the company to assume new responsibilities within DLR GfR mbH, one of the shareholder companies of Spaceopal. We now welcome former GSOp Bid Manager André Bauerhin as Spaceopal’s new Managing Director and wish him good luck for the upcoming years.

André Robert Bauerhin started his career with DLR GfR working on Giove B as Project Manager and Operations Engineer. In 2008 he became the Head of the Infrastructure Department for GfR and was responsible for the infrastructure, maintenance and IT of the GCC-D building, among other things. In January 2015, he started working for Spaceopal GmbH as Bid Manager for the GSOp tender, resulting in successfully acquiring the GSOp contract in a challenging competitive tender process. In continuing for Spaceopal as one of the Managing directors together with the CEO Mr. Giuseppe Lenzo, a strong team has been built up for steering the company in the future.

André is succeeding Simon Plum, who started working as COO for Spaceopal in February 2015. We thank Simon Plum for his contributions to Spaceopal’s success for the last three years and wish him all the best for his new tasks at DLR GfR.

Giuseppe Lenzo, Spaceopal CEO, states: “I’m very happy to have André joining Spaceopal in his new role of Chief Operating Officer. His deep knowledge of Galileo and positive attitude will for sure further improve our ability to manage the challenges which are in front of us. The entire Spaceopal family welcomes André, and at the same time thanks Simon Plum for his decisive contribution to the development of Spaceopal and wishes him all the best for the future”.
