Following the Galileo Service Incident occurred on 10th July 2019 lasting for one week after all Galileo services have been fully restored, the European Commission established an independent inquiry board to analyze the root causes of the incident and to provide recommendations for future service improvements.

A summary of the results has been published by the European Commission (EC). https://ec.europa.eu/growth/content/galileo-incident-july-2019-independent-inquiry-board-provides-final-recommendations_en .

While the detailed root cause analysis and recommendations are still under discretion of the EC, the investigations have confirmed no responsibilities for the incident are allocated to the Galileo Service Operator namely Spaceopal and its employed industrial team. The EC honored the industry for the reactiveness, the professionality of Spaceopal and its core team members that enabled an effective service restoration under the given circumstances.

Spaceopal is committed to follow up all incident-related recommendations leading to continual improvement, robustness and continuity of the Galileo Navigation and Timing Services affected.
